Project Lucy would accelerate this process leading to greater quantities Polar Stratospheric clouds (PSC) also known as Nacreous clouds. Light does not discuss the resultant increase in PSC’s (also known as Nacreous clouds) but instead focuses on the resultant increase in Polar Mesospheric Clouds (PMCs), also known as Noctilucent clouds, occurring in the layer above.
“Noctilucent clouds which are common in the Arctic form from water condensing around meteorite dust in the mesosphere above 50 km altitude and are becoming more and more abundant and are being seen at much lower latitudes. Any cooling effect due to reflection would be vastly overwhelmed by the clouds heat trapping. The further poleward one travels, the more this is pronounced. PSCs themselves also act as sites for the enhanced destruction of ozone molecules. HAARP and similar technology simulates the solar wind and the solar wind also takes out ozone. Early geo-engineer, Harry Wexler, suggested in 1958 that destroying the ozone layer by spraying “several hundred thousand tons of chlorine or bromine” with a stratospheric airplane would abruptly increase the surface temperature of the Earth.
It is generally assumed today that removal of ozone, which normally traps a great deal of shortwave solar radiation thus heating the stratosphere, would result in a surface cooling. This is because the effect of the loss of ozone’s ability to trap outgoing Infra-Red (IR) energy would be greater than the temperature increase resulting from the additional Ultra-Violet (UV) radiation allowed through in its absence.
However, this does not take into account the effect that a cooling of the stratosphere would have on the increase in Polar Stratospheric Cloud (PSC) formation, which increase in frequency due to colder temperatures, amplified by stratospheric aircraft and rockets, emplacing great quantities of ice nuclei at that level.
